Hike Through the Ecosystems

Hike Through the Ecosystems

Eagle County is home to a variety of ecosystems including arid shrublands, pinyon-juniper woodlands, lush wetlands, coniferous forests, and rocky alpine peaks, and ranges in elevation from 6,000’ to over 14,000’! This series of hikes will travel around Eagle County to learn about our diverse ecosystems and the things that live there. We hope to share a deeper appreciation for the natural world around us and share ways you can get involved in community science efforts. This program series is a partnership between Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and Walking Mountains.

Programs will meet at Walking Mountains in Avon and travel in a 15-passenger van to field sites where we will hike and learn about the living and non-living things that define these ecosystems. Participants should be prepared to be outside for most of the day.
